So you’ve decided to combine the efforts of your sales and marketing teams – a collaboration shown to grow company profits by an average of twenty percent.
But what exactly are the best practices when doing this?
Well, I’m going to give you
five quick steps to consider when getting both teams to play well together.
define their goals,
which for most businesses is profit, but for organizations like universities, may be getting more students to enroll.
let them have a system to work together towards this goal.
An example agreement could be that marketing provides at least 100 leads a month, and sales tries to close at least 75% of them.
let them see each others’ progress,
so they can make adjustments and be held accountable accordingly.
don’t forget to reward those who meet and exceed targets,
and fifth, and possibly most important,
ensure that both are kept updated on any changes, such as persona, or the type of customer being targeted, and the overall goals of the company.
